Lucky No. 13

Where does the time go?  You are always told that the older you get the faster time moves and my experience is that is definitely true.  Last week marked my 13th year on staff here at TBC!  Its hard to believe the time has flown by as quickly as it has.  Personally over those years my family has grown with the addition of four amazing kids, and our church has seen tremendous growth and change as well.  For those of you who haven’t known me that long this church has always been my home.  Every major event and milestone in my life has been intertwined with TBC – my baptism, marriage and ordination.  It seems hard to believe but Thom Rainer and Lifeway are reporting that the average tenure of pastors in Southern Baptist Churches is just over two years.  What a blessing it has been to be able to put down roots in the local body of Christ!  Although my time here at TBC has been long it hasn’t seen shocking change.  Over these 13 years I have had the privilege of serving with two different senior pastors, two music pastors, two discipleship pastors and three youth pastors.  Those tenures in each area of ministry more than double the average tenure in Baptist Churches.  Part of that success in ministry is credited to you our Church body.  You do truly make this place an incredible place to work and minister.  Your consistency and passion for the kingdom inspire and encourage all of us.  Despite any change in staffing, makeup or administration one thing has stayed consistent throughout my time here at TBC, our vision.  TBC exists to Love, Reach and Grow fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ for the glory of God!  This vison, mission and purpose has shaped and formed the very DNA of our people and I cannot wait for the opportunity of 13 more years in serving the Lord together with you!
