The Ministry of Maintenance

If you would have asked me when I started out in ministry the jobs I’d never have in a local church the answer would have been easy; Music and Administration. The former for very obvious reasons, while the latter for probably reasons rooted ignorance. In my younger, admittedly less informed days, I didn’t understand the role of administration in the church. I saw
it maybe as secondary or superfluous to the “actual work” that needed to be done. Luckily my perspective has changed, and God in his profound sense of humor has not only put me into a role of administration, but has given me an incredible joy in doing it. The blog title, The Ministry of Maintenance, while appears to in jest, is meant with complete sincerity. As I see it my role
here is one of a steward, or more culturally relevant for us a caretaker. My hope is that I will serve at TBC Cayce for a very long time, but the reality is that it won’t be forever. The time and resources I’m given while here God expects me to manage and use not just to the best of my ability for present, but also in preparation for the future and with respect of the past. I remember a rule of thumb that was always used in my house growing up, “If you borrow it, return it better than you found it”. That should be the goal of everything we do here at Trinity as we steward the blessings God has given to us. This is an exciting season in the life of TBC Cayce. In the coming Next Steps Meeting you will hear the three year goals laid out by our Extended Leadership Team. My role on this team concerning our resources looks at our target goal of membership and attendance over the next three year. To accomplish these goals we need to evaluate and plan accordingly with our
facilities, budget and personnel. A big part of this is not just what we need to build, but what we need to remodel and renovate to meet these goals. I’m looking forward to presenting the plan, and hope you are as excited as I am about whats in store for TBC Cayce.
