There Is Hope

A few weeks ago as I was preparing to teach a parent’s group about what children are being exposed to daily, I found myself feeling discouraged. Wars, shootings, abuse, trouble in schools sex-trafficking and the list goes on.  Things our children and grandchildren see and are taught in school were unimaginable three years ago.  The Bible is being called “a hate book” and being a Christian is looked down on.   Right and wrong is determine by what makes you feel good and not on God’s Word.  When I feel overwhelmed , God reminds me this world is not my home!

When I feel out of place, the Bible tells me why:

Philippians 3:20-21 “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”

While there is much beauty that around me, chaos sometimes overshadows what I see. There is hope of a better life because the Bible tells me that Christ is already preparing a better place for me:

John 14:1-3 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

Instead of worrying over what tomorrow may bring for my children and grandchildren, the Bible reminds me this life is only temporary.  God has better plans for me and you:

1 Corinthians  2:9  But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—

Romans 8:18  The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Revelation 21:3-4 “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 5:9-13 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

I am keeping these scriptures on my refrigerator so I am reminded daily of what God has in store for me is so much better than the world of today.   I find my hope in Christ!
