I missed Sunday morning worship for three weeks back in July due to my back issues. My time away reminded me of how important it is to be involved in corporate worship.

I’ve heard it a million times, “I can worship God without going to church.”

It’s a statement made by people who don’t really understand that being part of the church is an indispensable part of having a strong relationship with God.

Can you worship God outside the church? Of course you can. You can worship anywhere, anytime. That’s because of the nature of our God. He is everywhere and is, what we would consider, mentally present in all places all of the time.

I’m not going to sit around and argue with someone about whether they can worship God apart from the church. However, I will argue that for you to grow the way God desires we must not only “come to church”, but we must also participate in church. Acts 20:28 says, “Jesus died for the church.”

Paul didn’t just make disciples; he planted churches.

Further, there are many New Testament commands we couldn’t possibly follow without playing an active role in a church.

It’s a joy to be at a church like TBC Cayce where there are so many people gathered for the same purpose, to bring glory to God.

Though I’ve been gone for a few weeks, I sure am glad to be back worshiping with my family. Without the church I could never fulfill God’s plan for my life, and neither can anyone else.
