A Journey Never Taken
Have you ever personally led someone to Christ – I haven’t. However, I would like to think that in some way, I played a role in leading someone to a closer walk with God. Hopefully I’ve planted a seed or maybe even been the person that made someone say … “Oh Yeah – this all makes sense now.” In staff meeting last week, we talked about creating a TBC Cayce Evangelism Tool that can easily be used to effectively lead someone to the most important decision they could ever make. During the meeting I kept thinking to myself – for His story to be so important for us to share with lost people – why is it so difficult to accomplish? Is it confidence in scripture, are people afraid/shy, etc. Acts 1:8 does command us … “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” There are many models used to help us: there is the Roman Road, the Bridge to Life, the EvangeCube and etc. In our meeting we talked about how it truly is a Journey to the Cross. It’s your story and He is the author. It’s your words – told from your heart to someone else. Sometimes drawing a diagram may help you in this process- connecting the dots, crossing a bridge, following a path, etc. Our desire as a staff is to give us a starting point, a simple guide, with simple steps that are relevant to all ages. I know a lot of you have led someone on this Journey to the Cross. You’ve told them your story. You have shared how God has changed you and worked in and through you. Some of you have made it to praying the believer’s prayer with someone that changes his life forever. For me … it’s a Journey Never Taken, but one I look so forward to taking one day. Until then, no matter where I go (to the ends of the earth), no matter what paths I take or great deeds I do for others, mountains I climb, paths I cross …. Nothing will compare to being able to hold someone’s hand and walk with them on that Journey to the Cross. I pray that you will also experience the same.
