At the end of a busy summer I like to clean out and reorganize the supply room in the children’s area.  This means emptying containers, putting things back where they belong, and throwing out the junk. It amazes me that every summer I have the same issue with the containers and the lids.  I have containers with no lids and lids with no containers!  This makes me believe that the “container” makerschange their product every month so that when you lose a lid or container you have to buy more sets. And of course those are different than the ones you already have, so that when you lose a lid or container from the second group, they won’t fit the first group either!  

This past Wednesday I made my annual trip to Kmart to buy more containers and lids.  As I got to the storage aisle, I saw 2 employee looking at the shelves.  The young gentleman said, “I can’t believe it.  We have lids that don’t fit the containers and containers that don’t fit the lids.”

Those of you who know me, know I couldn’t let that go without commenting. So I walked up between them and whispered. “It’s all a conspiracy! Container makers have found out how to make more money by changing the product every month. It is so frustrating, isn’t it!”  The lady looked at me, shook her head and walked off with the helper right behind her.   I know they thought I was weird . I was embarrassed for a few minutes.  But then. I was reminded that God created me in His own image (Genesis 1:27).  He created me so that I could share in His creation, could worship Him,  could love and laugh and have a relationship with Him. He knows andloves me even when I embarrass myself.  I’m not weird… I am unique with my own sense of humor (or so I tell myself). 

You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD.     Psalm 139:4

P.S.  As I was leaving I overheard the young man say, “Do you think she was right?”
