Finishing Well

No matter your age or occupation I am sure that you feel the Summer fever that is in the air.  I see it in my kids especially.  It seems as though they have entered a season of coasting through everything in anticipation of the fun that summer always brings.  It reminds me of a verse that Paul wrote to Timothy as he knew his life was winding down.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  II Tim. 4:7

No matter how distracted we may be we need to focus on the path that God has called us to. Although Paul might be speaking of a path seemingly more important; it is crucial to remember that it is God who has called us to our own particular race.  For our students it is important that you finish this school year, its projects and other responsibilities to the best of your ability.  For parents we need to complete our tasks, job responsibilities and other projects with the same energy and excitement that we begin them with. It reminds me of other encouraging words from Paul,

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23
