The Future

I’m entering a new phase of life, I guess. I turned forty last week. I think it may be strange, but I always look forward to the future. Aging is a good thing as far as I can see. Each day we grow in wisdom and knowledge of our Lord and we get closer to reaching the goal for which we were created.  I hope that at forty I’m further along in my walk with Him than when I was twenty or thirty. I hope I’m a better husband, dad, son and pastor. There are many things we can learn or just know, but I’m convinced there are some things that we can only grasp through the experience of time. It seems to me our knowledge and wisdom compound as the days and years go by and that our relationship with the Lord, and those He has put in our lives seem to deepen and grow in unexpected and wonderful ways. I’m very much looking forward to this new phase of my life and I’m thankful for the years God has already given me. If this were my last day, I can honestly say I’m thankful for all He has done for me and how He has sustained me. My prayer is that He will call me and use me in the days ahead to be and do things no one else wants to do (especially in reaching the nations). I hope I can be used by Him for Kingdom things and I pray He will allow me to continue to serve Him for however many days He gives me. In my quiet-time today God drew my attention to Isaiah 66:23 “From new moon to new moon, from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me, declares the Lord.” That’s what I want to be part of, I want to spend my life helping to gather people who are ready to come before Him and worship Him. Looking forward to tomorrow…
