Genesis Family Devotions

October 16-23

In the book of Genesis, we see that as parents we have the responsibility to help our children grow in the image of God. The Bible tells us that if we want to see and understand God we need to look at Jesus. The goal is that we would all follow Jesus and be like Him and thus please God.

A big part of being like Jesus is our willingness to fulfill the role God has for us. Jesus had a very specific mission on Earth. He came to die on the cross for our sins. It’s easy to see how Jesus might want to rebel against His assignment, yet He followed God and fulfilled His role by faith. The question for us is whether or not we know and are willing to fulfill the role God has for us.

So let’s talk about our roles. Take some time this week to look at each of the roles below. Can you name one goal for each of these roles, and then think of one thing you can do in your role that would please God.
